As one of the world’s largest dairy producers, we believe that we can contribute to a better future for generations to come by producing nutritious dairy products while reducing our impact on the environment.

That’s why we aim to achieve Carbon Net Zero in all of our operations globally, from physical factories to trucks on the road, by 2050.

Actions we’ve taken to reduce CO2e…

Cutting CO2e
We have taken important steps in the direction of our goal, significantly reducing CO2e emissions from our farms, and focusing on sustainability when we modernise or build new dairies. The CO2e reduction from Arla’s operations, including packaging and transport, has been 25 percent from 2005 to 2019.

Switching to Renewable Energy
Today, 33% (2019) of our power comes from renewable energy sources, and we have switched entirely from fossil fuels to renewable fuels for all of our trucks in Sweden.

Our Targets are Scientist Approved

When it comes to reducing CO2e emissions, Arla is realistic, action led, and motivated to improve. We have already cut our CO2e output significantly, but there is more to do: our goal to reduce total CO2e emissions by 30% by 2030 has been approved by the Science-Based Target initiative as being aligned with climate science.

Carbon Net Zero for Sweden’s Arla KO

From September 2019 on, all Arla® KO EKO products will have a carbon net zero climate footprint, which means that any related greenhouse gas emissions are counteracted by limitation and cleanup efforts such as tree planting, tree conservation, and biogas production, resulting in a carbon net zero impact on the climate. And it gets even better: by 2045 we aim to follow suit with all of our products in Sweden, and by 2050, with all Arla operations globally!
