Tip
You can make the smoothie with fresh strawberries instead of frozen. If you use fresh ones, it is a good idea to add some ice cubes when you blend the smoothie. This will make it ice-cold and thicken it up a bit. Also, instead of fresh bananas, use frozen bananas. It is a great way to save some of those bananas that are too ripe and almost browned that you would often throw out. Peel them, then cut or break them into pieces and freeze them in a freezer-safe bag.
Tip
To prepare fresh ginger for a smoothie, peel it using the edge of a spoon to remove the skin. You can also use a potato peeler. The easiest way to use it in a smoothie is just to chop it into coarse pieces and add it to the blender with the rest of the ingredients − it will blend nicely!

Thick and delicious with frozen strawberries, fresh banana, and milk
The frozen strawberries and creamy bananas team up to give you the creamiest smoothie! The frozen strawberries achieve that perfect frosty thickness, enveloping your taste buds in a cool embrace with each sip. The fresh bananas make it smooth and creamy to complement the icy strawberries, while the milk melds these components into a harmonious blend. This combination ensures a luxuriously thick texture that makes every sip a treat.

Let the flavours pop with lime and ginger
The combination of strawberry and banana yields a rather mild, fruity flavour. This is why we like to shake things up with fresh lime and ginger! The lime cuts through the sweetness, adding a vibrant, tangy edge that highlights the strawberry and banana, making these flavours more pronounced and refreshing. The ginger introduces a warm, spicy undertone that contrasts exquisitely with the cool, sweet fruit, making every flavour pop.
Topped with chocolate, granola, and fresh berries
Our strawberry banana smoothie recipe is the perfect option for breakfast, as it includes toppings! You get everything you want in the morning in one bite: fresh, fruity flavour, a creamy, refreshing drink, and crunchy, nutty, and chocolaty all in one. The dark chocolate adds a rich, indulgent twist, while the granola brings a satisfying crunch and a hint of nuttiness. The fresh berries burst with juiciness, adding a natural sweetness, vibrant colour, and fruity notes that match the lime, banana, and strawberry flavours in the smoothie.
Make it your own
With this simple and classic flavour combination, there are endless ways for you to experiment with it. For the smoothie itself, sweeten it up with maple syrup, honey, or a splash of coconut milk. You can also add other types of frozen fruit or berries, and even vegetables, for example, mango, pineapple, or fresh greens like spinach and kale, to introduce new textures and flavours. Consider spices like cinnamon or a dash of vanilla extract to complement the base flavours of strawberry and banana.
For the toppings, use other fruits or berries cut into small cubes, add a few chopped pistachios, walnuts, or hazelnuts, or drizzle some chocolate or strawberry sauce or coulis on top. You can also decorate with fresh herbs like lemon balm or fresh basil for a savoury touch that matches the strawberry.
