Tips

Determining when the pulled pork is done cooking in the oven is crucial if you want to achieve the perfect texture and taste. The most accurate way to check if the meat is ready is by inserting a thermometer into the thickest part of the pork. The ideal internal temperature for pulled pork is around 88-96°C, as this ensures the connective tissues within the meat have broken down, making it tender and easy to shred with a fork.

Tips

Aside from the temperature, you can also assess the tenderness of the meat to determine if it is done. When the pulled pork is cooked properly, it should feel tender and almost fall apart when you apply pressure with a fork. If the meat is still tough or does not shred easily, it may need more time in the oven to reach the desired tenderness. Additionally, the outside of the pulled pork should be dark and slightly caramelised, while the inside should be moist and tender.

Add your own touch

Experiment with different marinades, meats, and add-ins that are to your liking. Toppings for pulled pork sandwich

There are numerous pulled pork sandwich toppings to experiment with. For example, fried onion rings introduce a wonderful crunch and a mildly sweet taste to the pulled pork sandwich.
