  • Pour the smoothie into 2 bowls and distribute blueberries, raspberries, and chia seeds on top.
  • Garnish with mint leaves and edible flowers and serve immediately.

Tips

When blending, aim for a creamy and smooth consistency. It should be thick enough to support your toppings without them sinking. If your blend is too thin and runny, consider adding more frozen banana slices or a spoonful of skyr. If it is too thick, add a splash of milk or juice.

Tips

Breakfast bowls are also great for busy mornings when you are rushing out the door. Simply pour your pre-made base into a mason jar or any portable container with a lid, add your toppings, and you are good to go. A creamy smoothie base with forest berries

The base of the smoothie is where the magic begins. Starting with a smoothie base made of frozen bananas and skyr with wild berries adds a creamy, velvety texture and a mild, slightly tangy flavour. Adding wild berries infuses the smoothie base with a sweet yet tart flavour that pairs beautifully with the bananas. Vanilla, lemon juice, and lemon zest add another layer to this delightful fusion. The vanilla brings a sweet, aromatic undertone softening the tartness of the berry-flavoured skyr, while the lemon adds a refreshing zing that brightens the overall taste of the smoothie breakfast bowl.

Chia and berry topping

To add an extra layer of interest and flavour to your breakfast bowl, we have added a chia and berry topping. Chia seeds bring a delightful crunch that contrasts beautifully with the creamy smoothie base, and they subtly enhance the overall taste without overshadowing the other ingredients. Fresh raspberries and blueberries give a juicy burst of sweetness and tartness that uplifts the entire experience. The fruit topping also contributes visually, adding a vibrant splash of colour that is not only pleasing to the eye but also stimulates the appetite. The combination of these toppings rounds off the bowl perfectly, providing a satisfying finish to your morning meal.

Adjust the recipe and make a personalised breakfast bowl

You can easily tweak the ingredients to cater to your personal preferences. If you prefer a nuttier base, add, for instance, peanut butter to the skyr base. If you are after more sweetness, add a dollop of honey. You can also experiment with different types of berries or add other fruits, such as mango or kiwi, for a tropical twist. You can also adjust the toppings. Swap chia seeds with flaxseeds or pumpkin seeds for a different texture. If berries are not your thing, try chopped nuts, granola, or a dusting of dark chocolate. The possibilities are endless. So, get creative with your breakfast bowl ideas and see what delightful combinations you can come up with. Your breakfast, your rules!
