An apple and plum crisp is a popular fruit dessert with roots in American and British cuisine. This dessert is a great way to use leftover fruits that you may have at home and it consists of a fruit filling, usually made with apples and plums, topped with a mixture of butter, flour, oats, and sugar. It is baked until the fruit is tender and the topping turns golden and crispy. Instructions

Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C Fan/Gas 4.
Step 2
  • With your fingertips, rub together the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, ground flaxseed, hazelnuts, pecans, coconut sugar, cinnamon and Arla LactoFREE Slightly Salted Spreadable Butter until you have a breadcrumb consistency. Set aside.
Step 3
  • Place the apples and pears into an oven proof dish and mix with the maple syrup and lemon juice.
Step 4
  • Sprinkle over the crumble topping mixture to cover the fruit. Transfer the crumble to the oven to bake for 30 minutes, or until golden.
Step 5
  • Serve with a spoon of Arla LactoFREE crème fraiche.

Tip

Brown sugar works well too if you don’t have coconut sugar.

Tip

Swap hazelnuts and pecans with 40g of any nut you have to hand.

Tips

If you don’t have ground flaxseed, another 30g of rolled oats can be used instead.
